Study of Talmudic topics with a pursuit of clear understanding, inner structure, and the depth of the Sages' intent
The Torah of Rabbi Uri Holtzman spans the in-depth study of Tanach, with careful attention to the language of the Torah and a connection to the order of the scriptures and the structure of the portions.
His unique perspective on the status of the nations of the world, the process of redemption, and God’s guidance in the world and the Land of Israel offers a clear angle that deepens the understanding of the scriptures and the words of the Sages.
The classes draw on the depth of biblical language, the connection to Rabbinic interpretations, Midrash, and the commentaries of the Rishonim and Acharonim — alongside an observation of contemporary reality in the Land of Israel.
The book “Lehithalech” grew from a collection of weekly pamphlets compiled over approximately five years from the classes of Rabbi Uri Holtzman on the weekly Torah portion and the Jewish holidays. These pamphlets, now gathered into a series of books organized by the Five Books of Moses and the annual Jewish calendar, unfold a unique approach to learning: a constant walking before God, through contemplation of the plain meaning of the text, the depth of its language, and the words of the Sages and commentators — revealing in each portion a living progression of growth and development.
The style of the articles preserves their original character — a focused and relatively concise look at weighty matters, like a “bird’s-eye view” over the portions and the books of the Torah — yet behind it stands a deep process of clarification drawn from the oral classes, drawing on the words of the Rishonim and Acharonim, and seeking to open before the learner a new horizon in understanding the word of God written in our holy Torah.
5 volumes on the Torah, 2 volumes on the Holidays
One of the central tools in Rabbi Holtzman’s study is a unique map of the Land of Israel, which allows one to see the events of the Tanach unfolding on the map.

Rabbi Holtzman leads Tanach tours throughout the Land of Israel, bringing the study from the page into the field.
During these tours, participants visit sites where biblical events took place, hear in-depth explanations, see the mountains, valleys, and roads, and revisit the verses in light of the actual landscape.
In addition, as part of his connection to the Land of Israel, the Rabbi teaches special classes on the depth and significance of the bond between the Torah, the Land, and the Jewish people.
